Welcome to our paradise. In the center of the Netherlands with Amsterdam, Utrecht, Gouda, Delft and Oudewater nearby, we offer you peace and space. How nice is it to sit on the water and enjoy the sun or enjoy the panoramic view of the meadows?
Or would you rather go for a canoe or your own rowboat in the beautiful nature reserve? This is possible with us!
We have our own natural swimming pool and sunbathing area. And do not forget your own free parking space for your car. Since there is a terrace on 3 sides of the house, you always have a wonderful place to sit. Just what you want, in the sun or in the shade.
Our nature house "De Koolmees" is fully equipped, wifi, Smart TV with Digitenne, dishwasher, oven, microwave, washing machine, dryer etc. You do not lack luxury. Everything is new, in 2018 we have renovated inside and out "De Koolmees". Chillier days in spring or autumn? No problem. "De Koolmees" is super insulated and has central heating in all rooms.
The closed garden has space to store your (electric) bikes and possibly recharge them.
When you enter, you have the spacious bathroom on the right, the laundry room with the washer and dryer on the left. There is also the wardrobe. At the end of the corridor left under the stairs is the "coffee and tea bar" and right corner kitchen. Under the side window is the dining area and to the left, overlooking the meadows, the seating area with the smart TV. In the roof structure there are 2 beds, which can be used as twins or 2 persons. Here are the bathroom furniture with sink and storage space. There is a single bed in the small room. All beds have good mattresses and are 90x200.
Through the French doors you enter the terrace. On the terrace there is a garden table for 4 people for al fresco dining and sun loungers to enjoy the outdoors and of course a charcoal grill.
The rowboat is waiting for you at the dock. The rowing boat is especially for you and included in the rental price.
In our pasture there are chickens, ducks, sheep and kobus our pony. If the weather permits, we will invite you for a tour with our boat.
If you want, you can rent our sheets and towels. The beds are already made for you when you arrive. For this we charge an additional fee of 20,00 € per person.
Breukelen has its own train station where you can park for free. The reins take you to the center of Amsterdam in less than half an hour.
The area around Breukelen is beautiful and has a rich history. The river Vecht plays an important role. Already in the golden age, around the year 1600, the wealthy businessmen discovered the beauty of the river. The traders, who made a lot of money trading with Asia, built beautiful estates with teahouses on the Vecht. Many of these estates have been preserved. By bike along the banks of the Vecht you have a beautiful view of these historic buildings. If you want a combination of cycling and sailing, we can recommend the "bike boat". Around Breukelen there are many bike paths that lead you along the rivers, through the polders or in beautiful nature reserves. You should not miss the cycle route around the lakes of Loosdrecht or through the nature reserve from Tienhoven to Hilversum. Search for cycling routes in Breukelen:
Do you like to play golf? Also, a few miles away, in the rustic town of Loenen aan de Vecht is a beautiful golf course with 81 holes. For more information;
Finally we would like to recommend the visit of the castle De Haar in Haarzuilen. This castle was rebuilt in 1892 on the ruins of the old castle and the castle and the castle garden are regularly open to visitors;

Summary: We had a great week in this lovely house, surrounded by such beauty. Gijs and Ying-Yi were perfect hosts; taking care to prepare everything with our comfort in mind and giving us the space to relax (while knowing they were there if needed). The house is perfectly located to enjoy the beautiful village of Breukelen and the natural splendour of the area. It is also well connected to routes that make visits to Utrecht and other interesting towns and cities very simple. We had awful weather but that didn’t ruin the experience and we gladly managed to take out the rowing boat provided for a beautiful sunset on our last evening. We will definitely return!

Summary: The property is located in the heritage area near Breukelen. It is adjacent to a canal with its own row boat. The patio is on the canal. The listing was accurate. Kept in a very well maintained condition and well equipped. One can sit and enjoy the view of the fields or feed the ducks or walk to the lake and enjoy the free water board or a canoe. It is a huge lot with four dwellings, but they are spread out and privacy is not an issue. Free Parking is available on the premises. Wifi is good. There is hardly any traffic on the adjacent road as it is a dead end. The walk to town is very refreshing, or enjoy a bike ride renting from Age Bikes. The town and other sporting facilities are 5 mins by car. We were received by Gijs and Ying Yi. Ying Yi checked us in and explained everything and took us around. She was always available to help. On another day Gijs took us for a tour on his boat, that was so much fun. It was lovely to have met them, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends and family. Thank you Gijs and Ying Yi for a wonderful stay.

Summary: My wife and I stayed in the "De Koolmees nature house" between 6 and 13 April 2019; this is the smaller of the two accommodations available and can sleep up to 3 people (a twin and a single bedroom). Gijs and Ying Yi, the owners of the accommodation, are fantastic hosts; they are extremely welcoming and attentive to your every need. The accommodation had everything we required, plus a lot more! The accommodation is conveniently located just outside Breukelen (2.3Km / 1.43 Miles, about a 5 minute drive), a very picturesque town that has a Market every Friday; it is very conveniently located to access Amsterdam and other local attractions, of which there are many. The Road system is good. Do be aware that the Supermarkets in Breukelen don't generally take Visa; we couldn't use either our Visa Credit Cards or Visa Bank Debit Cards to pay for shopping in either the Jumbo or the Albert Heijn (AH) shops, and you should confirm with the shop that they take your preferred payment method before starting your shop. Supermarkets in Breukelen state that they do take MasterCard, although we are unable to confirm use of a British MasterCard, since we don't have one. We did make a stop at a Lidl that was in the vicinity (but not in Breukelen), which did take Visa. We had no problem using our Visa Credit Card at Museums and attractions during our stay in Holland, and there are plenty of Automated Cash Tills to obtain cash from. Most shops in Breukelen town are shut on Mondays, although some are open for part of the day. We both enjoyed the fabulous view over the meadow opposite the accommodation. There was a large amount of wildlife to watch (we saw deer, Geese, Swans, Ducks, Herons, and also a Buzzard that is nesting in a local tree close to the lake). We spent a lot of our early morning, late afternoon and evening time watching the wildlife, helped by a pair of Binoculars kindly loaned to us by the owners. The only thing that has stopped us giving the accommodation 5 Stars is the fact the stairs that lead up to the top floor are quite steep with a tight turn at the bottom, and have to be taken with care. We loved our stay here, and highly recommend it if you don't mind the steep stairs; we would stay here again and would recommend it to our family, although we would try the larger of the two accommodations available if our group was larger.
